The Docks Empty The Docks

Mon Jul 04, 2022 2:22 pm
Location of a majority of Dakota's Import and Export, the docks are a location that holds a lot of power. Due to that fact, a lot of Gang activity takes place here. It all rose to a boil when the Gang War that lead to the Big Bang took place. Since then, all shipping activity has been brought to a halt, and the Dock have been quiet. Perhaps, TOO quiet...

The Docks Empty Re: The Docks

The last thing Theo remembered before everything went dark... was pain.

It was his anchor. The last piece of consciousness he could cling to unless he wanted to fade away completely. His vision had fallen to black hours ago, the only thing he could hear was the pounding of his heart in his ears, the only thing he could smell or taste or feel was the blood pouring from his body and that strange purple smoke inside his lungs. He'd caught bullets before, but Theo could tell that this time was different. This time was serious. Here, bleeding out between two nondescript shipping crates, was meant to be Theo's last night on Earth.

But he refused to accept that. It wasn't fair. It wasn't just. If he could just hold out for a little longer, someone would come and help. An ambulance. A passerby. They couldn't just raid the docks and leave the bodies here to rot, right? If he could just cling to the pain a bit longer, stay alive a bit longer, someone would save him. Someone had to...

In the end, no one came.

In the end, as the hours of agony passed, Theo's only comfort was himself.

In the end, as he died, Theo realized that himself was more than enough.

But that was then, and this was now. Now, Theo was stepping out into the sunshine of a new day. He was leaving behind the bullets and the broken cannisters and the rubble of the Big Bang. He was leaving behind the pain and the blood. Most inexplicably of all, though, Theo was leaving behind his own corpse. He'd long since gotten past the confusion, past the panic. He'd screamed and sobbed and puked and pinched himself. This was real, laying there across from him was the bloodied mess of a body he'd been before he blacked out. Instead of dead, Theo was disoriented, without a scratch on him. Whatever was happening, whatever this was, it meant that he could keep going. So he did.

Moving through the Dakota City streets, Theo found himself disgusted at how... normal everything was. Couldn't people feel the energy in the air? Something in the city was different, like the entire place was wired to blow, and yet the city streets stayed business as usual. It was surreal. Something had to be done. First things first, find out who on the docks last night was still on the streets, and what better place to take attendance than good ol' Dakota High?
